Motherhood in Focus: A Legacy Mother / Daugther Session to Remember

Every once in a while, I have a photoshoot that touches me a little deeper — not just as a photographer, but as a mother, a daughter, and a friend. This session with my sweet friend (and fellow photographer!) was one of those moments!

Amber & Avery came to the studio looking fabulous as expected, lol I always admire Ambers style! What I loved most about this session, is the opporunity to capture this special mother / daughter bond Amber & Avery share, while Avery is still in elemetary school. Older wiser mothers always warn you it all goes so fast, but until you're in it, you don't realize how true that statment is! These in-between years are so fleeting when they're still kind of little, but about to be teenagers so quickly!

I loved what Amber had to say about her session, and I'm always so thankful and grateful to my sweet clients who take the time to send me reviews!

“I am so so grateful for the opportunity to be photographed with my daughter. It has become very important to me after losing my father to have pictures with my girls at every stage of their lives. I unfortunately don’t have many pictures with my dad and it breaks my heart every day, so I want to leave a different legacy with my daughters.Geni is an incredibly talented photographer and really gets the bond between a mother and daughter because she is both. She related to my daughter and made her feel so comfortable in front of the camera — which made me feel comfortable too. If you’re a mom, you totally get that. Choosing which pictures to hang up was the only hard part of the process.”

Elegant family portrait session in Raleigh, NC.

She pretty much summed up exactly everything I was feeling when I created the Leave Your Legacy sessions. No just pretty pictures — the portraits are about connection, about honoring the phases of motherhood, and about leaving something tangible behind for our children to hold onto.

Amber: thank you for trusting me to capture this part of your journey. I saw so much of your strength, love, and gentleness reflected in your daughter. You’re raising a special girl, and I know these portraits will mean even more in the years to come.
